Cardiovascular Disease Wellness Testing Panel

Cardiovascular Disease Wellness Testing Panel

So far the general medical check-up is the commonly known and most used preventive measure for diseases, especially for those who are healthy or feel no symptom of illness. For those at high risk or suspected of experiencing the development of certain diseases, taking the general medical check-up only will not be enough. Further test should be taken based on the possible risk that one will experience. Wellness testing is a part of preventive measures consisting of a group of tests useful to identify the risk of disease development as early as possible, even before any symptoms appear.

Heart and blood vessel disease (cardiovascular) is a degenerative disease (aging related disease), rated as number one death cause in the world. Cardiovascular Disease Wellness Testing is beneficial to identify the risk at early stage and to recognize the possibility of complication (disease development affecting the heart and blood vessels) for those with the high risk.

Currently, Prodia Clinical Laboratory provides you Cardiovascular Disease Wellness Testing Panel recommended for the patients of dyslipidemia (lipid disorder), diabetes, hypertension or those with a history of cardiovascular diseases in their family. Cardiovascular Disease Wellness Testing is better taken soon after receiving the abnormal result for the fat profile or blood sugar test. You may retake the test once a year or as per doctor' s recommendation.

Cardiovascular Disease Wellness Testing Panel consists of the following tests:

- High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP)

Atherosclerosis (hardening of the blood vessels) is the root cause of cardiovascular diseases. In addition to fat deposit in the blood vessels, inflammation can also occur in the process of atherosclerosis. Besides functioning as an inflammation indicator, hs-CRP is also a risk factor for coronary heart disease.

- N-Terminal Pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide (NT-proBNP)

Diabetic cardiomyopathy is often present in people with diabetes, causing structural or functional damage of the heart leading to heart failure.

NT-proBNP test is beneficial to detect the early stage of heart failure.

- Total Antioxidant Status (TAS)

Antioxidant is a natural substance found in foods as vitamin, mineral and other nutrients. Antioxidant is known to prevent diseases by fighting against harmful substances called free radicals. Without antioxidants, free radicals will damage body cells which later may develop cardiovascular diseases. TAS test is useful to estimate the antioxidant status within the body.

Medical facilities such as doctors, hospitals and others may help us when we are sick, but the decision to be completely healthy (wellness) lies in our own hands. To be aware and participate actively in the preventive measures are the best ways to be completely healthy.
